Twiggy eyes with my new lashes!

It's been a while since I've done anything creative on here, so when I was sent these lashes from kkcenterhk, I figured it was about time to do so. I mean, these particular styles gave me no other choice but to show them to you in a very...specific way.

Namely, the...Twiggy way!

Please excuse the poor attempt at this iconic look, I fear that my makeup skills have become a wee bit rusty lately and this kind of makeup should probably be left to the pixiwoo's of the world, but I couldn't resist giving it a go myself. Ok, I guess it's not so much Twiggy after all, more like a drunk Kubrickian extra, but what can you do! :)

But enough about me, let's talk lashes!
- The AK 612's come in a pack of 5 pairs and are in the "natural-looking" category. They add length and volume, without being over the top and I'm sure than noone would even guess that you're wearing falsies! They went on easily, although I did have to cut the clear band on both ends before application.

- The AK 681B's (or the Twiggy ones, as I'd like to call them) are bottom lashes and come in a pack of 5 as well. This time I did have to cut some lashes on one end in addition to the excess band, to fit my eyes properly. And even so, I must say I could feel the band pinching my skin on the inner corner, which makes me think that the band was too hard/not as elastic as it should be. But other than that, they're a good choice if you wish to create those signature 60's looks (or any doll-eyed looks for that matter)!

Overall impressions?

The AK 612's are totally my style and I would purchase them when I run out, since they do give a lovely effect. As for the AK 681B's, I'm not so sure about them, perhaps if I couldn't find anything to suit the look I'd be going for, then I would, but I'd try to look for alternatives first.

On a random note, the eyeshadow that I used was MAC Surf USA from the Surf, Baby collection, one collection that hadn't caught my attention at first - now I already own 2 items and contemplating a third (would anyone care for an uber late Surf Baby haul?)!

That's all for now!

Hope that your summer has started and that you're having a great time already (me...not so much, among finals, my broken laptop, and a health situation of a family member I cannot say that I have that high expectations for this summer...)!

What's your opinion?

  1. This looks fab! You've really got the twiggy look down to a tee! I reckon with the right outfit you could pull this off on a night out! It's fun to wear something different now and again! Fab post! xxx

  4. I hope you enjoy your summer despite any adventures dear :) I love this look, very 60's very glamourous! Sadly i am hopeless with false lashes, i can't stand them. My lashes are already crazy thick and long, even when i put mascara on, they look spidery long :P

    Kisses :D

  15. Hey Hun. I'm sorry to hear about your family member having health issues - I hope they fully recover in no time. And I hope you're able to get your laptop looked into also. Hang in there for your finals - I hope you pass with flying colours. When are they over?

I think you did a great job with the Twiggy inspired look! I haven't tried lower false lashes before because I wear such full/voluminous ones on the top lash line that it might be too much to add another lower set. And I agree that the AK681B might be tough to use for daily makeup - they're a bit too clustered and costume-ish for me. But they could be great for a night out like clubbing or a event party? :)

  18. LOVE this look! I really like the Twiggy lashes! Although not the most practical, I think they're really fun for costumey looks like this one. I don't think your skills got rusty at all! ;)

Hopefully your finals will be over before you know it, I bet you'll get fabulous results!! I'm sorry about your family member, I hope things improve soon xoxox

  19. I love it! I really like the 612 lashes. You applied the lashes very well. I posted some pictures today of my most recent false lash attempt. Let's just say it was definitely amateur night at the amateur salon! ;)

  20. @Miss War Paint (Nic): Thank you so much for that lovely comment girl!!! This look is definitely outside of my comfort zone, but perhaps you're right: it could be worn for a fun event, with the right outfit and...attitude, lol! :) xx

@Cel: Thank you so much girlie! :))) I guess it's fun trying out new things isn't it? :) xxx

    @Lady-Pa: Thanx dear! :)

@Anastasia: Thank you for your wishes, things are finally starting to look up, so I guess not all is lost! ;) And many thanks for the feedback regarding this look! :))) By the way... I want your lashes, why would anyone with lashes as amazing as yours bother with falsies??? Youre a lucky gal!!! ;) xoxo

  22. @Mairyliscious: Thanx hun! <3 xx

@fantastic: Aw thank you sweetie! :) And yes, that's how I started with false lashes too! I can easily see how it can become a standard part of one's going-out routine, they do add that little extra sth to the look! ;)

@FashionSugarBubbles: Σ'ευχαριστω πολυ κουκλα μου! Χαιρομαι που σου αρεσε!!! Φιλια!!!xx

@makeup merriment: I agree with you, it's definitely more of an editorial look or a genre look, and it took me a bit of getting used to it when I finished it! But it's surely nice to explore sth different once in a while! :) xx

  23. @Artemi: Thanks doll!

!!! ;DDD xxx

@Alesha Dahir: Thank you so mich for that amazing comment sweetie! Take care! xx

@Karen Law: Thank you for the wishes dear... yes, there is some recovery, but it will take long, and I'd hate to see my family member upset and in pain! :(
At least exams are over here, but the studying never is, lol! I shouldn't complain too much though (even in this 36-37 degree heatwave), since things are finally starting to look up for the summer! :)
I see your point about the lower lashes, and yes, these ones are definitely "costumey", however I think that if one would wish to balance out the drama of the upper ones, that it wouldn't be such a bad idea.. a simple strip though, nothing that screams "I belong in an editorial", hahaha!!! xoxoxo

@ellamarie84: Aww, thank you sweetie! :) Your comments always put a smile to my face! Glad you enjoyed this and thank you for the wishes and positive energy!!! You're a doll! xxx

@ModestyBrown: Lol, I'm afraid it will take me a while to get to your post (I'm SOOOO behind on keeping up with everyone's posts), but I know one thing: everyone started just like that (or worse probably)! Those...hairy accessories take a bit of practice (and a lot of patience)! ;) You'll be a falsie expert in no-time, I'm sure! ;) xxx
