(Beauty) Shopping the Sales...

As I mentioned in my previous post, I engaged in some beauty shopping recently: I've been wanting to get my hands on a fair share of products and the sales were the perfect opportunity for me to stock up!

Curious as to what I bought? Well...

First stop was the drugstore floor. The damage here was fairly small:
I got the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Frizz Remedy to use as a regular conditioner, mainly because it's been too long since I've tried any Aussie stuff and my hair lately seems to have missed them. What's funny about Aussie is that, contrary to popular belief, it's not actually an Australian brand, but regardless of that, they make good-quality, delicious-smelling hair products. Not too happy about the full price reaching 9 euros though - thankfully, this was on sale.
I also picked up Maybelline's Salon Manicure Protecting Base as a base coat. I'll admit that I'm no base coat expert, but I'm very happy with the ones Maybelline makes and I've never considered straying from them so far.

The next stop was the high-end section:
It was about time to grab a YSL lippie, so YSL Rouge Pur Couture in #10 Beige Tribute (a basic nude shade, yet dissimilar to the ones I already own), was the obvious choice for me (I quickly decided against #24 Blond Ingenu due to its coral undertones and slight sheen).
Chanel Inimitable Mascara was a bit of an impromptu purchase, but by that time I was so defeated by hearing the news about my beloved Exceptionnel, so I was like "ok, gimme whatever".

Finally, the MAC stuffs:
Dervish Lip Pencil (one of the very popular lip liners used on YT and, well, seeing it on a Pixiwoo vid is a bit of a selling point in itself, isn't it?) and a back up of my (tried, tested and) trusted Cleanse Off Oil.

Excuse the lack of swatches this time, but I do plan on reviewing/showing the makeup products on future posts anyways!

Any of these sitting in your beauty stashes too? Have you been shopping the sales as well?

What's your opinion?

  1. Ok girl, I think you need to prioritise the YSL lippie swatch! As you know, I'm in a hunt for a nice high-end lipstick but I have to be honest, my lusting over the Rouge Volupte packaging is growing into the impossible-to-resist level! Secondly, WHAAAAT? Aussie is not Australian? That's a shocker! I haven't paid attention to any lip liners used by Pixiwoos, I need to have a little browsing over Dervish! xx xx

    1. @cbsg5861: I'll try to post abt the YSL lipstick soon (thoughI'm so back-posted though, it's not even funny)! Your Rouge Volupte curiosity makes me regret swapping/giving away all of mine - I could have given you one to try!
And yes, Aussie is not Australian, actually Aussie ppl have never heard of it, and even on their website it says that it's just made with Australian flora ingredients, so I don't really get why some ppl say that Aussie is an "australian brand"!!! xxx

  2. Ooh I love that Chanel mascara you bought, I had it before and it's really good. I need to get a YSL lippie, I've heard such lovely things about them. It's my birthday coming up so maybe I'll treat myself xx

    1. @LauraMck: I have high hopes for this mascara - perhaps it won't be like Exceptionnel, but it's the only other one by Chanel marketed as a volumising one, so here's hoping! And yes, the YSL Rouge Pur Couture line is lovely, I'd strongly recommend it! x

    1. @evi: MAC Cleanse Off Oil is being sold at MAC counters too, as are some of their other "skincare" stuff! I haven't dedicated a full post on it, but I've written a few more things about it in past skincare posts, http://allthevanity.blogspot.com/2011/04/current-skincare_24.html and http://allthevanity.blogspot.com/2011/09/skincare-update.html

  6. Cleanse off oil is a staple for me. And you know, I got Seche Vite but I still think my drugstore top coats are better. I might have to try that Maybelline one.

    1. @Kajal Couture: Same here, cleanse off oil is a huge must for me too! As for top coats, nth beats the ease of using Seche Vite, but there's still a few good other options!

    1. @Tali: Hehe, if YSL Rouge Pur Couture had such a vast selection I'd be broke, no doubt about that. So I guess, personally speaking, I'm good for now, hahaha!!! xxx

  9. Great Haul Tina! It's always nice score stuff on sale isn't it? :) I've gone through a couple of bottles of the MAC Cleanse Off Oil which you know I love for removing face makeup but not so much for removing eye makeup also....I know you said you use a separate eye makeup remover, but I guess I'm just hoping or an oil cleanser similar to the MAC one which can remove my eye makeup without giving me a temporary oily haze when I open my eyes after washing my face. I bought an oil cleanser by a spa line called "Thann". It that doesn't work out then I very may well go back to the MAC Cleanse Off Oil ;)
I can't believe the Aussie conditioner is 9 Euros usually where you are! If I go the States it's like $3-$4 only...but then again, everything is cheaper in the States - That's why I love travelling there :)

    1. @Karen Law: Yes, the way I do it (removing makeup) does take a bit of time, but I do want to be thorough, as well as gentle! Many people do use Cleanse Off Oil for their eye makeup too, and I believe that if you rinse your eye afterwards, that it wouldn't be an issue! I guess it's hazey feeling that's the most annoying!
Btw with all your trips, I'm sure that you've tried a big variety of luxurious skincare products, I'd love to see a post on what's worked the best for you!
Yes, Aussie (as is everything else here) is a bit of a rip-off, which is why I shop online so much!!! ;) xxx
