In my Makeup Bag this Week & Bobbi Brown "Neons & Nudes"!

It's been a while since I've done one of these posts, but due to my recent traveling, my makeup bag has stayed pretty much the same for a while now, featuring mostly my tried and trusted makeup items (with the exception of a couple new additions).

So, if you wanna have a look inside my makeup bag for this... month, here it is:

First things first: I need to mention just how in love I am with my new makeup bag! It's by Ted Baker (purchased at Boots) and its floral design puts me in a spring mood instantly! Plus it smells divine since it carried all my Lush goodies back home!

In it we have: YSL Teint Resist foundation, MAC Select Cover Up concealer, MAC msfn, Korres bronzer (apparently it's shy in this picture), Chanel Lumiere Sculptee highlighter, Benefit Erase Paste, MAC Dervish lip pencil, MAC Fascinating eye kohl, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Natural Collection lipstick in Apple Blossom, YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Beige Tribute, Chanel Inimitable Intense mascara, some random black L'oreal eye kohl that I always carry with me just in case, Maybelline Stylish Smokes quad in 02 Natural Smokes (one of my favourite palettes in general), Bobbi Brown blush in Nude Peach, Bobbi Brown lipgloss in Citrus 2 and MAC Icescape lipgloss (aka the gloss that keeps on giving).

As you can see, I played it safe: I don't believe that traveling is the best time to try out a bunch of different new looks, so I resorted to what I know makes me look presentable even when tired. I've also picked out shades that would work well with my (bottle) tan before my trip, as well as with my fairest-of-them-all complexion at the moment.

But, because it would be a sin to be that predictable (read: boring), I threw in a couple of my most recent purchases as well: a lipgloss and a blush from Bobbi Brown's "Neons & Nudes" collection (the one with that stunning visual), that I'd been coveting for weeks!

The blush, shade-wise, is exactly what you'd expect from a blush named Nude Peach: it's a soft peach with a flattering rosey-ness to it. Upon close inspection it does seem to have a hint of a silver shimmer, but that's undetectable when worn, translating as a regular satin finish.
This was my first ever Bobbi Brown blush and the quality really impressed me: not powdery at all and with a good & buildable pigmentation (I prefer to start off lightly with all my blushes and add on later instead of the opposite).

The orange lipgloss from that collection, Citrus 2, is a sheer orange gloss without any shimmer. At first glance it looks super bright and scary, but when you apply it, it just adds a peach toned warmth to your lips (and looks amazing on top of a nude lipstick). I tried to take a lip swatch that's true to life, but the best I ended up with was the one below - in person the lipgloss turns a bit more caramel in my eyes. The texture is ever so slightly sticky, but with a velvety stickiness if that makes sense. Only thing I dislike about this lipgloss is the scent: it smells like chewed Stimorol gum (remember those?) - thankfully it's not that intense as to drive me insane.

With such good first impressions from Bobbi Brown cosmetics, I have a feeling that this won't be the last time you hear me mentioning the brand!
Their stunning promotional images aren't making it any easier either!

So, what items are inhabiting your makeup bags as of lately? Any Bobbi Brown fans out there that would like to share their recommendations? :)

  7. I like these types of posts....and your makeup bag is adorable!

I really like Bobbi's foundations (Skin and Moisture Rich in particular), and I also like the Eye Shadow brush because it is so densely packed and the Face Blender Brush.
