Beauty shopping, the new L'oreal Caresse lipsticks and current In's & Out's...

I couldn't help it, I went beauty shopping. And I surely didn't come back empty handed:

Ok, so, my little loot consists of:
1. A new foundation, namely the YSL Perfect Touch, the one with the brush that's notoriously annoying to clean. Reason for picking this up, is that both the lightest Teint Idole and the lightest Dior Forever (two foundations I've been dying to try) are simply too dark for my paler-than-pale skintone (not to mention that the Dior Forever seems to oxidize more than it should?). So, "tried and tested" it was.
2. Korres eyeshadow in 77 Plum. One that I've been wanting for ages and can't wait to create some evening looks with!
3. Apivita Radiance Serum. This is basically a vitamin C serum: I've been reading lately that vitamin C layered under sunscreens can help battle the free radicals that are released as a result of sun exposure. I only hope this works - review to come in the future.
4. L'Oreal Caresse lipsticks, and not 1, but 4! There's a special offer on these here lately, buy 2 and get a free Glam Bronze Wild Instinct bronzer, so I couldn't let that slide!
5. Finally, the 2 gwp bronzers I got were 302 Medium and 303 Dark (don't you just love the leopard detailing!?).

L'Oreal Caresse lipsticks

I have to say, I was really pleasantly surprised with these! The formula is just lovely: extremely lightweight, creamy without being slippery, fairly glossy and not at all drying. The pigmentation took me by surprise too: I was expecting yet another "tinted lip balm" type of product, but these are definitely much more intense, especially the darker shades. They're definitely buildable as well!

The four shades I picked were: 02 Innocent Pink, a very light baby pink shade, 04 Rose Mademoiselle, a bright cool toned fuchsia (more vibrant in real life), 301 Dating Coral, a great peachy coral, that's not too orange, meaning I can get away with it, and, lastly, 501 Nude Ingenue, a beige/peach nude shade, that Lana Del Rey wore in Cannes (and we love some LDR, don't we?).

In other news, not a whole lot is going on... Allow me to elaborate in the form of some In's and Outs:

June 2012 In's & Out's

In's

1. Finding a few minutes each day to read a great book. At the moment, I'm reading Death with Interruptions by Jose Saramago (imho you just have to read something by him in your lifetime).
2. Movies, movies, movies! Monday is a bank holiday here, so instead of deserting the town for some beach somewhere just like everyone else, I decided to make it a movie weekend. I already saw Snow White and the Huntsman yesterday, which I truly enjoyed (I even liked Kristen Stewart's acting, if you can believe it) and plan to see Dark Shadows later today.
3. Movie trailers with kickass music. The Great Gatsby anyone?

Out's

1. Over half of the female population wearing tube tops and hotpants because apparently that's what you do on the second day of summer weather.
2. The mountains of textbooks and notebooks I have to go through this month. I'm literally typing this while having a huge pile to my left to balance the huge pile stacked to my right.

Random post has come to an end!

Let me know what you've been shopping lately, beauty wise! Have you tried the L'Oreal Caresse lipsticks, and, if so, which shades?
What are your current In's & Out's?

What's your opinion?

  1. #301 is gorgeous! As for the YSL, I had tried it a few years ago and it is a decent, light foundation. The brush is useless and I wonder why they didn't replace it with a pump or something!

    1. @ScrapgalGR: I know, they should get rid of that stupid brush and repackage into a bottle with a pump! Shame, cos it's a good foundation for many skintypes! x

  2. Greed on the outs list LOL I keep thinking..'we live in a CITY why are you wearing a bra and hotpants? This is not brazil!!!'

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Tali: It's not brazil or a beach bar and what's worse is that the tube top/hotpants wearing chicks don't even look Brazilian enough to pull it off!!! :DDD xx

I'll review the Apivita serum after I've tried it for a little while longer... Let me ask you, do you use it during the daytime too? It seems that my pharmacist and I disagree on that...

  11. I so want these lipsticks...!I was swatching them the other day and I think I am going to cave and pick up the two colours I liked the most. Also, that song from the Great Gatsby trailer has been in my head for over a week now and even though I don't appreciate Leo's acting(if one could call it acting) I really want to watch the film.

    1. @Αthina: Lol, well, whatever Leo lacks in the acting department, he more than makes up for in other... areas, hahahaha!!! Yep, that song has been stuck inside my head too, I only hope the film has equally great songs in it.. Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see...! xxx

  12. I am loving those L'oreal lipsticks on you! Are they comparable to Dior Addict lipsticks at all? I started to find them a little too slippery lately, though I love the colors I own. I just hate wearing overly glossy lip products in summer. And YES!!! I agree with the amazing outfit of tube tops + hot pants...That's why I am praying for chilly weather everyday in hopes of avoiding this sight pollution!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Ebru: I just had to try them on, yes, it seems that they're a little less slippery than the Dior Addict ones, but it's really not that big a difference, in fact they're extremely similar products! Lol @ the "sight pollution", my feelings exactly! :DDD xx

  17. Hmmm, I didn't quite like the packaging of the L'Oreal Caresse lipsticks- now that I see them on yor blog, I might reconsider! How cute are these bronzers? Kudos to L'Oreal for that leopard print pattern on the top, it's so fun to look at!

[Although I must say, one of my makeup related pet peeves is the word "glam". I'm so serious about it that I stay away from makeup products containing that word! For real.]

    1. @Evi: I know, the Caresse packaging ain't exactly the gem of your makeup bag, but it's summer and given the beating that they'll take, I guess it's better that way! The designs on the bronzers is just phenomenal (despite the overlays), I'm a sucker for engraved powders!!!
They make the product look...so.... GLAM! Pahahahahaha!!! xxxxxxx

  18. Hmm, where to start - really curious as to the YSL touche eclat foundation! Most excited about that and also good to hear your thoughts on the LOreal lippies as I saw a gorgeous colour I wanted to try out, but i'm currently lipglossed out at the moment...

Still haven't seen either of those movies, but want to see them - hope KStews accent doesn't disappoint!

    1. @A BRIT GREEK: The Touche Eclat foundation has me curious too - I've heard good stuff about it and it's the next one I want to try, but since I was really in need of some foundation, I picked the Perfect Touch, couldn't wait a couple more months (at least that's how long it will take for it to be released in the UK)!

  19. Hi Tina!! I hope all is well with you ;)
Very nice makeup haul, especially the YSL Perfect Touch Foundation. I'm glad you were able to find a match for your skin tone - I hope the foundation works well for you!
My younger sister mentioned a Vitamin C serum she's been using lately to help with premature aging and sun exposure. I should probably pick up a Vitamin C serum myself however I'm still working my way through Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Serum which for that price, should work as well if not better than a typical Vitamin C serum....I haven't gotten amazing results from the EL serum so I'll probably get a more simple serum after.
I've banned myself from lipsticks and glosses because I have so many LOL So I just avoid those makeup aisles....so I haven't heard of the L'oreal Caresse Lipsticks. All the four colours you chose look gorgeous on you - the nude one didn't look that nice in the tube but it looks great (more sheer) when applied.
I'll keep in mind Jose Saramago since I love reading a good book. I haven't read any good books lately.
Haha I wish the ladies here would wear more tube tops and hot pants! Then I wouldn't have to feel self conscious about wearing a summer dress or a shorter skirt....people here tend to dress conservative (and not really fashion forward) but then again, our weather has cooled down a little bit all of a sudden.

    1. @Karen Law: Thank you girl! Exams are very very close, so the makeup chatter is necessary to get my mind off things!
I've been reading how vitamin C serums really work when layered under sunscreens, I haven't yet seen any remarkable results, but I will make a review about it soon. Apparently vit C serums are the 'it' thing in skincare at the moment!
LOL at the part of your comment regarding the fashion!!! Don't get me wrong, I don't mind shorter garments, but the second day the weather got a little warmer, half the girls here would dress as though they were attending a beach party. It just hit me as so out of place, given the fact that during the night you still needed a duvet to sleep! :DD xxxx
