If you follow the latest releases in the beauty world, you might have noticed that The Body Shop have really stepped up their game in the past few months: first came their Camomile cleansing range (future post to come), then the relaunch of the Dragonfruit Lip Butter as part of their Foundation Campaign, the new Colour Crush lipsticks, and as we're speaking, their most recent Honeymania bodycare range has reached their stores.
Today, I'll be reviewing the Dragonfruit Lip Butter, letting you all know how the Foundation campaign works, as well as the newest addition of my makeup collection, the Colour Crush lipstick in 240, Damson in Distress. Hopefully, lippie addicts out there will share my excitement!
Let's talk lipcare first:
The Dragonfruit Lip Butter was launched in 2012 and it's the brand's first ever product to allocate all of its proceeds to national charities of each of the countries it's being sold in.
The product itself surprised me in a good way: though I'm usually not a jar lipbalm person and much prefer thicker consistencies for my dry lips, I found that this one manages to soften them more than adequately. Its scent is fruity and refreshing, and the formula is slightly thicker than the one from the Chocomania range (which didn't really impress me), even though there is not a huge difference in the ingredients list. I love that it doesn't feel like it just coats your lips, instead, it sinks in gradually, softening the skin over the course of a couple of hours. If you need a super nourishing lipbalm (like, say, Jack Black or Nuxe), then this may not be your cup of tea, but I feel that everyone else will thoroughly enjoy it.
As for the Foundation campaign, The Body Shop gives us customers the chance to decide which charity to support: a voting process that will last until 30.9.2013 will determine where the proceeds go: the charity that gets voted 1st will receive 50% of the proceeds, the one coming 2nd a 30%, and the one coming in 3rd, the remaining 20%, making sure that all causes are supported. For my Greek readers, you'll have the chance to vote among AΡΣΙΣ (Κοινωνική Οργάνωση Υποστήριξης Νέων για την Προστασία των Ανθρώπινων Δικαιωμάτων), την Οικολογική Εταιρεία Ανακύκλωσης, και την ΑΝΙΜΑ (Οργάνωση που δραστηριοποιείται στον τομέα της προστασίας της φύσης και της περίθαλψης άγριων ζώων).
Naturally, the best is saved for last:
Out of the new Colour Crush lipsticks, the one that immediately caught my attention, was one of their darkest and most intense shades: 240, Damson in Distress (also named Prune Melodrame - I guess depending on the country you're in) is a fuchsia/berry shade, deep and vampy, but also vibrant enough to be appropriate for all seasons! It looks even better up close, my
