Classifying the weather here as gloomy would be an understatement: in fact it's been so dark and rainy lately, that yesterday I had to turn on the lights at 2:30 in the afternoon! And, that, to me, seemed like the perfect opportunity to test out the new Korres "Winter Gloom" Nail Colour collection for A/W 2013-14! Yes, the name of the collection fits the weather to a T, but make no mistake, there's nothing remotely miserable or depressing about these shades! Proof, of course, provided below:
Korres Nail Colour in 63 Stone Brown is a rich, dark chocolate brown creme, and while that sounds basic, the execution is far from! I doubt I've seen such a pretty brown over the past few years and the fact that it doesn't run too warm or too cold will undoubtedly make this a big hit among all skintones.
Korres Nail Colour in 80 Clouded Purple* is a lot harder to describe, and I must admit, I had a tough time trying to take an accurate photo of it. It's a cross between a grey purple and a deep raf blue, and while it's certainly a cool shade, there is some richness and "warmth" to it. I had to edit the photo in an attempt to give it a "real-life" quality, but I still can't get it to look 100% right. Between the 1st photo, however (in the bottle), and the second one above, the second is the most accurate. Oh, it's also a creme finish.
Both nail polishes were a pleasure to apply and achieved great coverage after the first layer - I, of course, added a second one for a rich, opaque finish. They're fairly quick drying nail polishes too, and with a fast drying top coat over them, I was able to use my fingers not long after my manicure.
Korres's LE A/W 2013-14 makeup collection also includes two more lines: "Romantic Nude" and "Vintage Red", which will be up on the blog shortly. ;)
What's your favorite of the two?
