OPI Skyfall Collection: my picks!

I'll admit that I was quite a big James Bond fan in my teens, I mean, you just can't argue with a classic like Dr. No and Goldfinger, right? Unfortunately, it's been a long time since any of the recent (1990 onwards)  Bond flicks impressed me much, if, at all. Until, Skyfall, that is.

And, in beauty terms, too, it's also been a while since I've been lured in by a nail polish collection. OPI Skyfall, again, turned the tables.

So, what does all that make us? An OPI Skyfall haul, of course! Now my nail polish collection can last me for a good number of...years, so, I showed some restraint and only picked the ones that stood out to me the most:

Skyfall, Live and Let Die, and Tomorrow Never Dies. Let's have a closer look:

OPI Skyfall is perhaps not the most unique burgundy red creme anyone's come across, but I adore this colour family, and Skyfall is an extremely flattering execution. Great application too, 2 coats and you're done. It's also more longlasting than other OPI cremes I tried in the past, not sure if that's my rekindled OPI love speaking, or a different formula.

OPI Live and Let Die is a bit of an optical illusion: it looks pretty much like a black from a distance, while in reality it's a blackened fir green with tiny flecks of gold/green shimmer. This one was love at first sight and it's surely gonna be my top "off black" pick for the rest of the winter season! Two easy coats applied here as well.

OPI Tomorrow Never Dies, lastly, is another trickster: a beautiful reflective metallic nail polish, that balances between blue and purple. In the bottle and in my swatch photo, it leans clearly towards blue, but in real life, it's a lot more purple, and a lot more interesting. Another hit (shown here after 2 coats)!

My only regret from this collection is..not getting more! I loved Casino Royale too (hated the movie), but it seemed way too dupable to justify the purchase. Still... *sigh*

Gonna close this post with the sheer brilliance (trust me peeps) of Skyfall's opening credits, for your enjoyment! ;)

Did you get anything from the OPI Skyfall collection? Do you know any dupes for Casino Royale?
And, most importantly, what did you think of Skyfall, the movie?

What's your opinion?

  1. Oh my God, I must stop acting like a kid and go watch Skyfall! Can you believe it, I refused to watch any more new James Bond films because I didn't want to spoil my good memories of Sean Connery and Roger Moore. I can judge from the credits that I'm going to like it.

OPI's Skyfall looks like my cup of tea too! "Live and let die" seems like what Dior Diva nail polish from the Grand Bal collection should be like, it looks like it has just the right amount of shimmer and the base is a tad more exciting than plain black. Good picks, girl!

    1. @Evi: Well, this Bond movie will surely impress the hardcore Bond fans, in a good way, as in, we see another side to Bond that we hadn't before. Btw Javier Bardem is epic, yet again!

Oh, I hadn't really thought that the dark one from Grand Bal was a glittery one, tbh apart from the red and the pearly white one, nth else really caught my attention! I need to get on top of my game! xxx

  3. I must be one of that "rare" people(endangered species :P) that I hadn't seen any of the Bond films(nor any of the Star Trecks) until the Skyfall. That was the first one and I really liked it! Bardem rocked!

I also bought an older OPI nail polish, my first, recently and i liked their flat brush very much! But I was told that they have changed it. Is it true?

    1. @evi: Oh, absolutely! Bardem has that unique skill of being an excellent actor, even if the character verges on the...comic side, like on Skyfall! If you see him on Mar Adentro or Biutiful or No Country For Old Men, he manages to impress you every time (yes, I love me some Javier, lol)! :D

Yes, the OPI's have a "pro-wide" flat brush in the collections released the last few years, the older ones were a lot more difficult to work with! I don't think they've changed the brushes again though!!!

    1. @Stella: Great choices!!! I know, they made a great collection this time, and now I'm thinking of going back for another two... (oh dear!)!!
Skyfall photographs pretty true to life, it's clearly a burgundy shade, not so much brown-ish! x
