"I loathe narcissism, but I approve of vanity." - Diana Vreeland.

"It's not vanity to feel you have a right to be beautiful. Women are taught to feel we're not good enough, that we must live up to someone else's standards. But my aim is to cherish myself as I am." - Elle Macpherson.

"But I feel vanity is a part of art and the non-vain are really non-artistic." - Barry Webster.

Hi, I'm Tina, I'm from Greece and I've been blogging on AlltheVanity.gr since March 2009. This blog was created as a result of my true passion for all things beauty and apart from serving as a record of my own progress in learning to express and take better care of myself, it was, and, still is, addressed to those who read it, in the hope of informing them and entertaining them at the same time.

I'm a sceptical person by nature and I'm one of the first to doubt whether something works as it promises to or not. My first ever beauty post, on how to spot fake MAC brushes, indicates that even as a complete novice, I was eager to cut through the bullshit and get to the point. This attitude hasn't changed; if anything, it's been reinforced due to the hundreds of thousands of ridiculous product claims that we're being constantly bombarded with. I'm also a bit of an odd duck, in that most products don't work for me anyways: I have dry, unruly hair by nature, combination skin (dry with an oilier T-zone/prone to pimples), which can also be labeled as sensitive (frequent redness, doesn't tolerate many products - Caudalie Beauty Elixir to name but one). In that sense, testing, researching and trying out new things is not a superficial passtime, but rather a necessary process on the road to self-improvement. It's not my intention to go too deep here, but having fun with beauty, fashion and all those frivolous things that us ladies like to spend time on, is by no means an indication of a shallow person.

A few years into blogging, I felt that a blog wasn't enough for me to cover all that I wanted to cover beautywise, and so on April 2012 I co-created Beautytalk.gr, a Greek beauty webzine. The site ran until June 2014 at which point it had to stop, due to limited staff resources.

Anything else you might want to know about me that's not beauty related? Well, I'm a coffee addict, I enjoy thought provoking and honest conversations, I could eat sushi for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I love to dance, I adore good films, I'm usually the organisational freak in my circle, I'm in love with Thelma, my cat, I dislike people with double standards, and if anyone were to ask me "What would you want to be when you grow up?", I'd answer "A polerina"!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read all this and for staying up to date with all my... vain ramblings! I'm truly grateful for all your kind support throughout the years and I do intend to keep making it worth your while. :)
