A chocoholic flirting with...Chocomania!

Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Tina and I'm a chocoholic. Just in the past 3 hours I've had a mini Snickers bar (don't ask how many I had today) and as I'm typing these lines, I'm sipping some hot cocoa.

So, it shouldn't really come as a surprise that I rushed to check out the new Chocomania range from The Body Shop soon after it was released. Naturally, I couldn't return empty-handed:

I indulged in the shower cream (one can't have enough bathing products) and the lip butter.

But, first things first: the scent.

Despite the heavy advertising, the scent of the Chocomania range is not particularly chocolate-y. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's a mix of shea butter (doesn't come as a surprise, since it's one of the main ingredients of the line), freshly baked cookies and a touch of...hazelnut flavoured coffee. The scent, although disctintly foody, is not overpowering or overly sweet (I should know, since Britney's Fantasy perfumes give me a headache) and I find myself wanting to smell it again after a while. Now, on to my picks:

The Chocomania Shower Cream has a bit more of an artificial scent to it if u smell it straight from the bottle, but thankfully, that goes away in the shower. It's quite a moisturising shower cream, but not one that lathers up a lot (then again, I find most TBS shower creams to be that way).

My other purchase, the Chocomania Lip Butter, marks my first ever lip-balm-in-a-jar buy, and despite being restricted to use it only when in the house, I've already made a significant dent in it. The scent is delicious (I keep reapplying it for that alone) and the formula is nice and moisturising. It's not the best lip balm out there, but it definitely does a good job.

In fact, I'm already thinking of making a second trip to TBS, for a backup of the lip butter, as well as for the body lotion of the range (the body butter seemed waaay too thick), even though I have about a kilo of body moisturisers to go through. I'm also contemplating the body scrub, since compared to the rest of the Chocomania items, it had a stronger chocolate note to it.

So, have you checked out this line yet? Would you go for these types of scents?
What's the most chocolate-y scent you've come across in a body product?

What's your opinion?

  2. Agree.. if you want a body product pick up the lotion not the butter as the butter is just way too thick!!!

  4. First of all, can't blame you on these purchases! I love the Body Shop lip butters- they're not the most moisturising lip balms but they all smell amazing and their packaging, ah... So pretty to look at! Also, why does TBS make LE body ranges like this one? Where should I start: the Almond range (my faaave!!!), Moringa, Lemon, Cherry, ugh... Anyways, enjoy your purchases, hun! Now I'm about to have a nice hot chocolate AND some Kinder chocolate. Chocoholics, unite! xx

    1. @cbsg5861: Well, I seem to finally get what the fuss is all about regarding the TBS lip butters, with scents like these, it's hard to resist (and easy to overlook the packaging issue)!
As for the LE collections... don't get me started... they always do that. Which just means buy a backup of however much u intend to use and call it a day. Funny though, you'd think that brands these days would focus on consictency and not the other way round (applies to pretty much most brands these days, lol)!!! Enjoy your chocolate snacks hunni!!! xoxo

  6. I've heard this would be a LE collection but after some time they will have it again in stores permanently. I wasn't sooooo excited by the smell of the body butter, I really liked the soaps though

  7. Oooh, thanks for the reviews! Been wanting to check out this line. I'm also a total chocoholic and I love smelling like it. :) The most chocolatey scents I've come across are Philosophy 3 in 1 shower gels (Peppermint Hot Cocoa and Double Chocolate Mint Cookies are my faves, but Double Rich Hot Cocoa and Classic Fudge Cake are excellent too and are still available). But I need a good moisturizer to go with them...the Body Shop might just be it!

  9. Great review Tina! I heard of the Body Shop Chocolate line of products they released for Valentine's Day but I didn't go into the store to check them out. I guess I was a bit hesitant on how artificial the scent would be....and as much as I love eating chocolate, I'm not sure I'd like to smell like one (does that even make sense?!). The lip balm sounds like something I'd pick up though since chocolate lip balm is something I could taste :) My favourite lip butter by TBS is the Guarana Berry one - have you tried that?

    1. @Karen Law: Lol, yes, I understand your hesitation regarding the scent! It's definitely not the most natural smelling line, but it's sweet and pleasant (kinda like a cake), so I think it works! I'm tempted to try that Guarana Berry lip butter now... I'm usually not a fan of anything you have to dip your finger in (I assume that it's another little pot of lip balm, right?), but since I've already made an exception for the chocolatey one, I might as well see what else I've been missing out on, right? xxxx
