Korres Face Scrubs Pt. 2: Pomegranate Cleansing Scrub & Olive Stones Deep Cleansing Scrub

Seeing as I'm still experimenting with skincare products, in an effort to finally find the best and most well-rounded skincare routine for my skintype, I decided to put the remaining two Korres face scrubs to the test! This means that today's post will be a review on their Pomegranate Cleansing Scrub and their Olive Stones Deep Cleansing Scrub (if you wish to read my reviews on their Wild Rose Exfoliating Cleanser and their Thyme Honey Cleansing Scrub, you can check my previous post here).

The Pomegranate Cleansing Scrub is aimed at oily/combination skintypes and it's been one that I've repurchased over the years. The ingredients include olive and calendula extracts, which, along with their antioxidant abilities, help the skin heal, and, pomegranate extract, a very powerful antioxidant with extra mild astringent properties. Upon close inspection of the ingredients' list, however, I realized that the pomegranate exctract is practically at the very bottom (3rd from last), which makes me question if the concentration is high enough to actually make a difference! And even though I do enjoy its subtle fruity scent and the non-irritating exfoliation that the olive seed particles offer, this is not one I'll be repurchasing.

Now, the Olive Stones Deep Cleansing Scrub, although similar to the others in the range, provides the most effective exfoliation in my opinion (minor differences here, but still): I believe it contains more of the larger granules to the mix, so you can feel it doing the nasty work it's supposed to when you massage it in. It's meant to work well for all skintypes, but personally, having sensitive and prone-to-inflammation skin, I feel that I would need to be careful not to use it too often (despite it containing aloe and calendula extracts).

Overall Thoughts
All of the Korres Cleansing Scrubs have a similar texture, and there is no huge difference in their formulation, meaning you can probably get away with anyone. The Thyme Honey Cleansing Scrub was my least favorite, and although it's the one suited to my (dry) skintype, I didn't find it to be as effective (though if you're looking for a nourishing scrub to use frequently, you should give that a go). The Pomegranate one, left me with mixed feelings: yes, it's an ok exfoliator, but nothing special and the questionable advertising is a huge buzzkill. As for the Olive Stones one, it's probably my most favorite of these three, and I would repurchase, perhaps just not when my skin enters one of its problematic phases. As for my big winner: the Wild Rose Exfoliating Cleanser, hands down! Its granules feel less sparse, without being harsh and I absolutely loved its lathering formula! What do you know, I may have just found my HG mid-week face scrub! :)

I hope this little (?) two-parter was helpful. Let me know if you'd like to see similar posts on drugstore face masks this time, either by Apivita or Korres.

How often do you use a granule face scrub during the week? Have you found your HG one yet?

What's your opinion?

  1. Haven't try the Olive Stones and I wasn't thinking of it , as the pomegranate wasn't exactly so amazing for my taste either...but now there's a different story!!Going to the pharmacy asap dear!! :D

    1. @Blushingloves Irene Greece: Well, there are not HUGE differences by no means, but still... If you're looking for a slightly less delicate exfoliation try the Olive Stones one, otherwise, I strongly suggest the Wild Rose one! :)

    1. @Sofia S: I've repurchased the pomegranate one a few times over the years, but having tried them all, I've found some of the others to work better with my skin! Of course, skincare is so subjective! And thank you for the feedback, I'll try to review some masks up next! :)

  5. I haven't tried any of these, but I have been on the hunt for a good skin care line. Thanks for sharing! It's also helpful that you let us know what some of the ingredients actually do.

    1. @Jan Lee: You're most welcome! I think that we all need to shop smarter and read what's on the labels, I mean, claims are all well and good, but unless one looks into the ingredients' list further, they won't be able to tell what a product does or not!
