A... more personal "Happy New Year"!

Happy 2014 everyone! May the new year mark a new chapter in your lives, one filled with health, happiness, courage, laughter, prosperity, love and everything else your hearts desire! :)

Now, I must admit, 2013 was a pretty bad year all around for me, but I somehow managed to get by it almost unscathed and without looking back at it as a particularly jinxed/unfortunate year - something, which I surely wouldn't have done a few years ago. If anything, I tried to look for a silver lining in every clouded situation I had to deal with, and to move on without holding any grudges, and I think I succeeded in that for the most part (I'm only human, hey).

Still though, despite believing that we're the ones responsible for the future we create for ourselves, I do enjoy some good-luck charms, especially when they come in the form of jewellery (and here's where the vanity comes in): This year, I'll be wearing my 2014 Cruciani bracelet and my 2014 Zolotas charm pendant as reminders that optimism is only a thought away and that every mountain can be climbed, as long as I believe in it and I'm willing to put the effort in every single step.

What I have noticed over the past few years of blogging, is that a lot of people are struggling with things, at any given moment. Nobody is really living the perfect life and it's usually the most confident and "loud" that are overcompensating for the lack of something else. And instead of using the beauty community as a tool to help see and bring out the beauty in themselves, they usually end up feeding the competition, the drama, the negativity, and the perpetual JUDGMENT that is only doing us women a disservice at the end of the day. Am I wiser saying all that? No. In fact, I've been there, but I've chosen to not go there again, same as I've managed to not allow my inner critic emerge at those times when I'm feeling down. And like anything else, this is a conscious choice, one that I have to deliberately pick every time out of a vast pool of random thinking. Tell you what though, it gets easier, but, if I came this far, then, so can everyone.

Needless to say, the vain jibber jabber will resume tomorrow! But for today, put those resolutions' lists aside for a moment: I mean, you already know what you want to accomplish. Just take a minute to actually believe that you got it in you, despite what those inner and outer critics say.

I'd love to read all your comments!

    1. @Irene Blushing Loves: Yep, I think after a few years we tend to see resolutions as just another to-do list that adds more stress instead of emilinating it!
