Essie Fall '09 Collection: Angora Cardi

So, since one of the OPI EspaƱa nail polishes I 've ordered doesn't want to arrive to me to swatch and review it, I figured I should start the fall '09 nail polish theme with Essie.

Namely Angora Cardi.

Angora Cardi is the one shade from Essie's fall collection I instantly fell in love with.
It's a mauve-y/plum colour that looks really gorgeous on, sadly my table lamp doesn't do it much justice. In fact, it's a bit more muted in real life and in my eyes it makes an excellent shade for fall!

Being quite the purple nail polish fanatic that I am, I 'm very glad I added this gem to my collection, as it's not only a lovely shade - it applies really well and turns opaque in 2 coats without streaking.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially those Metro Chic lovers out there, since Angora Cardi is definitely in the same "dusty" family! :)

Sadly though, apart from Angora Cardi, nothing else caught my eye from this collection (yay for my balance)!

Mink Muffs looks very similar to You Don't Know Jacques, which I already have and Chinchilly is this weird greenish grey, that I just can't imagine having on my nails (but if anyone has tried it, please let me know what you think).
Midnight Cami is a dark shimmery blue (and I 'm still much in love with my Chanel Blue Satin to move on to another deep blue colour) and the two neons wouldn't be my usual fall choices, although I do like the idea of a couple of brights in a typical fall collection.

So, please let me know what you think of Essie's fall collection!

Will you be trying or have you already tried any of these shades? :)

What's your opinion?

  1. that color is so nice! i've been playing around with plums lately, as i feel the weather calls for it--it looks gorgeous on you!

ps. love the thumb ring..have been meaning to tell you that from ..i think.. another photo :) xx

  2. I really like that collection actually...would consider most of those colours - really love that neon pink. Fell head over heels for the Nails inc hills collection but I am trying to remember that I stopped using Nails inc a couple of years ago because they just don't go on nicely or last well on me at all. BarryM is a fraction of the price, always looks lovely and easily lasts 5 days without any care.

Might have to buy an essie or two and try them - oh the hardship haha.

  8. @ForDGRedial: I 've never tried Nails Inc, I hear they aren't that great... And that Hills collection, I really like the concept of it, but I wouldn't see any of the hills girls wearing these particular shades, I would have considered a lighter baby pink for Heidi, a charcoal shade for Lauren and a really dramatic red for Audrina! :DDD

Agreed about Barry M, they make great nail polishes, especially for the price! You should definitely try Essie though, maybe a shade that's not available in other brands? ;)

  9. @Tabitha Sheridan: I really like Essie, although I don't own that many nail polishes.
They seem to make great shades, somewhat more unusual than, say, OPI, and they apply really well! ;)
